The role of service coordination is to identify, with the assistance of the consumer, family, and others involved, the needs of each individual person and the resources available to meet those needs. It is the responsibility of the service coordinator to coordinate eligibility determination and then link a consumer and or their family with any other agency program, as well as with services available from other state, local, private or public agencies. After services are established, an eligible consumer and/or their families may elect optional service coordination and serve as their own advocate.
Early Intervention Services are available to train and assist families with their child, from newborn through 3 years of age, in their home setting. The family training provides assistance in understanding the disability or at-risk concerns and provides activities to enhance the family's coping skills, as well as, the child's cognitive, physical, and emotional development. Additionally, the early interventionist serves as service coordinator for these families by assisting them in securing other needed services.

Residential programs within the county are designed to assist each individual resident in developing the skills necessary to live as independently as possible. Currently in operation are over 200 residential beds located in Chesterfield , Marlboro, Kershaw and Richland Counties. There are 32 group homes and 56 one-bedroom apartments in Chesterfield, Marlboro, Kershaw and Richland Counties operated by CHESCO Services. Additionally, the agency operates Community Training Homes in Chesterfield and surrounding counties designed as a specialized foster care program where caregivers are trained in meeting special needs of an individual in their home. Through service coordination CHESCO Services also provides support and supervision as needed to those individuals who live independently in the community, or in other residential programs (such as boarding homes) not operated by CHESCO Services. Rehabilitation Services Phase II offers recreational, vocational and other various services to over 30 individuals in Chesterfield, Darlington and Marlboro Counties.

CHESCO Services operates four day programs located in Chesterfield and Richland Counties, while providing services for individuals in other counties. Individuals are either placed in a Day Habilitation or Pre-Vocational Program to meet their individual needs.
Individuals, who attend our Day Habilitation Program, participate in the Developmental and Geriatric Programs. These programs are founded on the basis of Reality Orientation and Sensory Stimulation. This in turn can improve self-esteem and social skills.
Individuals who attend our pre-vocaional programs are trained in various areas in hopes to ultimately prepare them for employment in the community. While in our pre-voc programs, individuals are offered the opportunity to work in various areas, including contractual, mobile work crews, or enclaves all while earning wages for the work they perform.
Contractual Work: Work provided by local industries that are brought into our day programs for all individuals to work and earn wages.
Moble Work Crews: A group of individuals accompanied by a staff that transports them from job sites. Our MWC consists of multiple cleaning (janitorial) and lawn crews.
Enclaves: A group of individuals accompanied by a staff who go to local businesses to work.
Competitive Employment: Once an individual gains the skills they need, they are assisted by our Job Coaches to find a job at local businesses, restaurants, and other employers. Our Job Coaches are trained staff who seach our jobs, assist in the application/interview process, and eventually provide on-the-job training with each individual.
The Bargain Basket (Thrift Stores): CHESCO Services currently operates three Bargain Basket Thrift Stores that provides jobs for the individuals through multiple enclaves. The Bargain Basket sells donated items, that are dropped off at the stores or placed in one of our 30 donation bins located around the counties in which we operate. All donations are tax deductible.
